‘ Beverly Kedzior’s work displays the constructs of an invented space, as perceived through intensified and fictionalized colors. Her assembled and layered paintings include subtle references to structures from botanical and medical text books, as well as cartoons and advertising. Through a process of deconstruction and reinvention, the organic structures amass, combining and overlapping to become a place located within the realm of an imaginary inner landscape. In contrast to Serpick’s soft/hard but somehow clean dichotomy, Kedzior’s pieces are heavily worked. Her painting process is emphasized by the use of traditional and non-traditional tools and printing techniques. There are heavy impastos as well as crackled surfaces. Paint has been dragged, sprayed, splattered and applied with instruments, including rollers, trowels, scrapers, adhesive applicators and cake decorating tools among others.
