” My installations are site-specific works dependent upon the space they occupy. Utilizing existing lines, beams, and angles, each piece I create is informed by the individual site and its unique linear movement. Thus, my installations are inherently architectural. I choose patterns and shapes according to detailed measurements of the installation site. Ideally these patterns are numerically symmetrical or somehow numerically balanced, producing a dialogue between line and space. I initially began working with tape because of the broad range of colors in which it is available. Additionally, I have always been drawn to its unique textural qualities. I began making videos to create a dialogue with the tape installations. I see the videos as a way to animate the tape installations, and further explore my architectural manipulation of space. When using tape, rather than leaving evenly-placed two-dimensional lines upon a wall, I expand upon the material’s sculptural potential and bring these installations into a third dimension. When using video, I angle projectors and use multiple intersecting projections to create animated, two-dimensional shapes. This creates an illusionary space, a perceptual play of pattern, color, light, and texture that is realized by the viewer’s experience of, and interaction with the work. ” - Rebecca Ward

‘ East meets West ’ by Tonio de Roover is a sofa that invites people together to sit, talk or read. In visual sense, ‘East meets West’ a sculptural object, an item that refers to a flying carpet that want to rise from the earth. It is reminiscent of the ‘tales of a thousand and One Nights’, thus heralding a connection with non-Western cultures. The simplicity of the shape and the materials used to emphasise this image.

Deladier Almeida — Born in Brazil, Deladier studied Architecture at the Catholic University of Santos. In 1985 he moved to California where he entered the University of California at Davis. In 1990 he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Studio, studying under Wayne Thiebaud, Roland Petersen, Sidney Goodman, Roy de Forest and Cornelia Shultz.

Tobias Hantmann’s painting has developed from large scale canvases and collages to ink drawings on dryed leaves and finally to monochrome carpets on which he drew geometric shapes or still life-like imagery with combs or rulers. In his most recent works he juxtaposes painting and photography. Based on the notion of simple mirror-effects on ordinary steel pots the artist realized ideosyncratic ensembles of this kitchenware . The pots are turned upside down and put on pedestals which make them appear as if they are hovering few inches above the floor. The backsides of the pots are covered with a thin layer of oil paint imitating the mirror-effects of the metal in sometimes unusual colors. Independent from any specific exposure to light, the mirror-effects now seem to be inscribed into the objects. (via Contemporary Art Daily)
